About the Founders

iyan-yaspriyanaIyan Yaspriyana

Yoga teacher, retreat leader, owner and co-founder of ONEWORLD retreats Iyan Yaspriyana lives his life with passion. He has no doubts that he will reach his dreams and is using many tools and techniques to make them come true.

Iyan was trained and certified as yoga teacher in 2001 by Louisa Sear, owner of the Australian Yoga Arts School. Originally biology teacher in Jakarta, Iyan moved to Bali in late 90’s and founded an Indonesia Language Teaching program for the expat community. But yoga and leading retreats soon became his full time life. Since 2004 he and his team are running one of South East Asia’s most famous retreat centers located on the spiritual island of Bali. Iyan is involved in three distinctive programs at ONEWORLD retreats – Escape the World, Follow your Dreams and Yoga on and off the Mat – throughout the year and has held literally hundreds of retreats over the past decade.

On his spiritual journey, Iyan early on discovered his ability to give massage therapy – especially a combination of Reiki and Ayurvedic massage – and this became the next step on this path to becoming a retreat and workshop leader.

Iyan’s method of teaching yoga reflects his view of life… one moment at a time and continually evolving. He is very happy to share from his vast knowledge and life experience.

Claude Chouinard

Creating and offering happiness is Claude’s life mission. He and ONEWORLD retreats co-founder Iyan aim to show another image of life, one without pressure. We are living in an increasingly stressful and competitive society. Bali has great therapeutic power to calm and heal with its magical nature, colours and people. For as long as you manage to blend in this diversity you would find inner peace.

Claude himself went through a process, leaving the day-to-day secured life to embark on a one-year spiritual journey in 1992 which led him to live a life on the road less traveled for almost 8 years. The conclusion was the realization of a dream to share his experiences with others by setting up a retreat centre where people get the opportunity to re-evaluate their lives and re-discover their true selves and values; without pressures and in an unpretentious yet comfortable and enjoyable way.

Claude’s relation and fascination with the Balinese and Javanese culture has made the dream grow. The region of Ubud is very special on this small island; the depth of the Balinese culture began around Ubud while the deepest roots are in Java. It is this immersion of a different way of life that Claude wants to share through ONEWORLD retreats.
