Happy 2012!

2012 is here! Let’s welcome the New Year with our gratefulness for what is good on this earth and let our heart be open to life in love, compassion, empathy, comprehension and friendship. Generosity has never hurt anyone in fact; it is the only way to grow. “Terima” and “kasih” which means “thank you” in Indonesian; receiving and giving for 2012!

The year seems to me that it is one that will take us into a new era… Mother Earth have been shaking in all her dimensions and naturally we of the human race believe the system is in distress in many areas of the planet. Sadly fear has moved silently and established itself within so many, but it’s a fact of life which we must accept and learn to take control and live with this reality.

Life in Bali as in many other places in the world remains in balance as the value and belief system of the Balinese is still in balance. Here we are quick to identify what is out of balance and fix it in the fastest way using the Balinese ancestor’s way. This belief has kept Bali in balance for centuries.

Bali in 2012 should keep on growing with visitors curious to see and live what Bali truly has to offer Westerners…that is, what is so special about this island that one does not find in other islands like Fiji, the Seychelles and the isles of the Caribbean. I have lived in Bali as a resident since 2000 and have traveled within Indonesia since 1994.

For many years I conducted small groups of adventurers to some of Indonesia’s most remote areas, everywhere I found beautiful people and yet all rather different from one island to another. Indonesia is a country with hundreds of tribes, certainly one of the most diversified countries in the world and would suggest to you, one of the most beautiful countries on the globe for its nature above and below water.

Imagine an archipelago of 17,000 islands; it would take 45 years if one was to spend a night on each one of them! Bali is just one of them, a glorious isle like nowhere else. Gentleness, true value and happiness is still very much part of the way of life in Bali.

ONEWORLD Retreats enters it’s seventh year, with the first few years under the name of Zen Bali, our experience in the field of retreats has grown each year as we have put our heart and soul into making them work. One can observe the satisfied faces and smiles in and around the retreat center, and we are told by our retreat community that we are providing what it needs to offer the self a true break from the world’s reality and travel deeper into our own being.

Bali is a great place that offers the perfect environment to delve deeper in search of what the true self wants from this life on earth. Of course there are different ways to achieve this quest, two of them are the ‘Escape the World’ retreat and the ‘Follow Your Dreams’ workshop, both programs Iyan and I have developed over the years.

In 2011 we have welcomed 657 retreat guests or an average of 12 persons per week. There were 333 guests who joined our Escape the World in Bali. The testimonials on our website and our number 1 position on Trip Advisor, in the Specialty Lodging category, show us your satisfaction. If you have participated in one of our retreats and would like to write a review, please go ahead… follow this link and if you have not yet connected with us, please do so on Facebook!

This year we wish for our wonderful community to expand and we invite everyone to join us for a ride around the world!

Wishing you Health, Happiness, Love and Joy…
