Keeping your body in Mind
This after dinner session uses body scan meditation to help explore the difference between thinking about sensation and experiencing it. Many of us spend so much time living ‘in our heads’ that we almost forget about the world experienced directly through our senses. The body scan meditation helps to train your mind so you can focus your attention directly on your bodily sensations without judging or analysing what you find. This helps you to see, ever more clearly, when the mind has begun to wander away by itself, so that you gradually learn to ‘taste’ the difference between the ‘thinking mind’ and the ‘sensing mind’. Body scan can also be used to create an experience of deep relaxation. Lovely to do just before bed.

DAY 3

05:00 Departure for Gunung Batur – Bali’s most spectacular volcano

17:30 – 18:30 Afternoon workshop

Mindful Movement
Use the practice of mindful walking and being in your body to help the mind to continue the process of re-integrating with the body. You’ll gradually learn that the body is exquisitely sensitive to emerging unsettling feelings when you are becoming too goal focussed – and this allows you to see how tense, angry or unhappy you become when things don’t turn out the way you want. It’s an early warning system of profound power and significance that allows you to head off problems before they gain unstoppable momentum.

18:30 Preparation for day of silence tomorrow and trip to Tirta Empul

19:00 Dinner Movie Night – Judith Lucy’s Spiritual Journey (Laughfest!

DAY 4

Start of day of silence
A day of silence is a wonderful opportunity to quietly look within. When we retreat from the world of our normal everyday lives, the workings of the mind can be more easily seen. Identification with conceptual belief patterns can be released, revealing a Silence and Stillness that is full of love and peace, the Essence of our Being.
During this day we try not to engage in any escapist activities such as reading or listening to music or checking emails or Facebook. You can however draw or write, swim in the pool or have a massage. The purpose of today is to be with yourself, fully.
This day is a gift to you, embrace it with gratitude being open to whatever comes.

06:45 Optional morning yoga and meditation (additional cost)

08:30 – 09:00 Breakfast – provided to your room, so you can stay centred in silence and peace

18:30 – 21:30 Purification ritual at Tirta Empul
After dinner, we will be taking you to Tirta Empul, Bali’s most sacred spring pools for a purification ritual. This mystical place is visited by Balinese from all over the island, a local mangku (priest) will carry out the prayers.

DAY 5

06:45 Optional morning yoga (additional cost)

08:00 Breakfast

09:00 – 11:00 Morning workshop

Re-Balancing our Lives – Waking up to the Auto-Pilot
Explore the close connection between our daily routines, behaviour and mood. When we are stressed and exhausted we often give up the things that ‘nourish’ us to make time for the more ‘pressing’ and ‘important’ things. Begin to use meditation to help you make skillful choices, so you can do more of the things that nourish you, and limit the downside of the those things that drain and deplete your inner resources. This will help you to enter a virtuous cycle that leads to greater creativity, resilience and the ability to enjoy life spontaneously as it is, rather than how you wish it to be.

  • Explore the 7 characteristics of ‘Doing’ and ‘Being’ modes of mind
  • How to practice Mindfulness in everyday Activities
  • Practising Compassion

11:30 Morning activity – Walking the rice field of Bali
This morning, we will take you on a gentle nature walk, first through a small village (Sakti) and then we will follow the rice field’s path all the way to Sari Organic where a delicious lunch will be served.

14:00 Option to stay in town for shopping or return to the retreat centre for spa treatments and relaxation.

17:30 Closing dinner – out in Ubud

DAY 6

06:45 Yoga and meditation program (1 hr) (additional cost)

08:00 Breakfast

09.30 – 11:30 Closing comments and Balinese offering class
All participants will have an opportunity to share their experience over the past 5 days and what it is they will take away with them into their everyday lives. This sharing will be followed by a Canang Sari class. The ritual of presenting offerings to the Gods is an integral part of the daily life for every Balinese. This interesting class is to help you understand the construction of the simplest offering and to explain the meaning behind the ritual.
Following the offering class, you will take these offerings to the resort temple and offer them to the Balinese Gods. Allow the process to leave you feeling cleansed and purified ready to join the world again! Group photos 🙂

12:00 End of the program

A truly amazing experience. Tammie Day touched on so many aspects of wellbeing in such a short timeframe; however the content she provided was powerful and mind changing. The outside excursions were amazing. I will be forever grateful to her for her insight, guidance and wisdom.

Jenni, Australia

A very full day starting with a wonderfully rejuvenating yoga class, interspersed lecture, spa treatments and trips out to temple and other places of interest was a very complete experience for my body, mind and soul. What made the retreat very special were the women who shared their soul and hearts and the staffs who were always so kind and helpful. Thank you everyone.

Not having travelled on my own before and being away from my family for the first time, I was certainly worried. However, from the moment I was picked up at the airport and throughout my stay during the women’s wellness retreat, I was made to feel welcome, included and totally secure and comfortable. The retreat is a magical place with beautiful people who are ready and willing to do anything to make you happy. Memories of kindness, the beauty and the culture, will stay with me forever. Terima kasih

Kumara Sakti is the perfect place to unwind and focus on wellness and mindfulness. The bucolic setting embodies a spiritual atmosphere and the staffs are exceptionally warm and welcoming. Tammie Day is an amazing facilitator, leading participants through a sound program of self reflection, processing, sharing and grounding us in the meaning of our journey with grace and enough with to keep what could have been to a heavy balanced yet meaningful. Suksma, peace and love.

Elan, Dubai, UAE

Receptionists, the dining room, the room service, yoga and spa staffs—I can only say they are all at the highest level. The staffs ensured I was comfortable and offered assistance when needed. I had a knee injury on this trip and they ensured I was assisted to my room, to lounge and spa. The quality of service was excellent. I would also like to thank Made whose professional and intuitive massages had helped alleviate my pain and assisted my mobility. It is many months since I have felt pain free—I feel a long with all the other magic that Kumara Sakti offered. I am returning home happier, healthier and more mobile. The highlight for me was a visit to Bumi Sehat and Tirtha Empul. Terima kasih to all team. Once again, I feel I have “come home”… 🙂 Namaste

This retreat has been a wonderful experience; a small coming look to myself. Tammie has gently led us with wisdom and gentle humor to re-examine what it is to be happy and to see how we can attain happiness and love for ourselves. I feel prepared and excited to experience whatever comes next in my life. Thanks, Tammie and thanks to the beautiful group of women who shared and who were so enriched during this journey with me.

WORKSHOPS

Soothe your soul, calm your mind and relax your body with six days in tropical paradise.

Mindfulness refers to the practice of remembering to bring attention to present moment in a non-judgmental and open-minded manner. It has been used for thousands of years in spiritual traditions and in the last 40 years practices similar to mindfulness have been used in a number of psychotherapies. In the last 15 years mindfulness practices have become increasingly popular in contemporary psychology. In the literature related to this contemporary use, mindfulness is considered as a meditation practice, a coping skill and a mode of being. Mindfulness can be learnt individually or within group settings and is not limited to any one particular mental, emotional or spiritual approach. During this retreat mindfulness will be explored from a Buddhist, neuroscience and a psychological perspective, making it practical and useful for people who live modern busy lives.

This retreat provides you with the opportunity to find peace in a busy world.

Mindfulness is a form of mental trainings. It is NOT:

  • a religion, although there may be a spiritual element to the practice.
  • about sitting cross-legged on the floor (but you can if you want to), chairs will be provided at every session.
  • about emptying your mind, it’s about tuning in and becoming more aware or “awake” to what is.
  • complicated, nor is it about success or failure. Every persons experience is unique to them and cannot be compared.

How this wellness retreat may benefit you

  • Quieten the mind and bring awareness to the way you think about life
  • Explore and deepen your meditation practice
  • Relax and refresh
  • Take time out for quiet reflection
  • Take peaceful time away from usual routine and surroundings
  • Start to become a human ‘being’, instead of a human ‘doing’
  • Embark on a journey of self-discovery
  • Develop ways of introducing mindfulness into your everyday routine
  • Set your priorities thereby changing or reinforcing your outlook on life
  • Find a community of like-minded people

This retreat is designed to support busy women to slow down and connect with themselves, in a beautiful location, in a fun and supportive way, whilst in the company of other like-minded women.

This retreat is not for you if…

  • You have recently gone through a major crisis and are still very emotionally fragile – the whole experience may be too overwhelming so it may be best to wait until you have regained some inner strength (feel free to contact us if you want to discuss this).
  • You are seeking a therapeutic or spiritual based program, this is a skills development retreat with a focus on engaging with cultural activities and self care as well as mindfulness. This does not mean that you will not experience these benefits we just want you to make sure your expectations match our program outline.
  • You are expecting to have individual sessions/counselling with the retreat leader, unfortunately time does not allow for this.
  • Your health and/or mobility prevents you from travelling to a country such as Bali. The footpaths are very uneven and there are many stairs at the retreat centre.
  • You expect Bali, a developing nation, to have all of the comforts and conveniences of a Western country. (The hotels we stay in are beautiful, comfortable and perfectly suited for a retreat experience but Bali is not a western country so things run differently over there – this needs to be met with acceptance and understanding).
  • This retreat usually has around 18 participants.

MEALS

Our chefs are experienced and eager to offer you the freshest, healthiest and most tasteful meals, infused with love. Your special wishes and dietary requirements are taken care of whenever possible. All your meals are included and most of them are eaten together with the group in the beautiful jungle dining room but sometimes are also served in the privacy of your own balcony or at an outside location. Your personalized itinerary will inform you in detail.

SPA

Part of your journey is enjoying the luxury of our skilled therapist’s massage treatments. You will enjoy a 110 min. Mandi Lulur – Floral Bath, a 17th century Javanese royal treatment. A traditional body massage followed by a body scrub with turmeric, sandal wood and rice powder, an exfoliation of yogurt to eliminate toxins, and a fragrant blossom bath. Other treatments are available onsite, you may wish to view our spa menu.
