A journey to the land of plantations – clove, cacao, coffee, vanilla and more!

This journey to the lush hills surrounding Munduk includes two nights of accommodation, an excursion to a waterfall, walk through rice fields and plantations as well as many stops on the way such as Bedugul’s lake temple.

Munduk is located in the northern part of the island at app. 900 meters above sea level. The temperature is nice and fresh averaging 20°C at night and 25°C during the day. The small village has a population of about 6,000 people, most of them farmers.

History books reveal that Munduk has been inhabited for over 200 years and that at the beginning of the 20th century the Dutch reached the area. Loving the fresh air, they used Munduk as a mountain retreat and the first guest house opened in 1908. The colonial architecture of Munduk is still visible. It was during this period that plantations were established and started to export to Europe.
