Overview

Often in our busy lives we find it challenging to find stillness and this can leave us feeling depleted, drained and lacking vitality and joy. This retreat is designed to recalibrate and bring balance to our energies by harmonising the yin and the yang aspects of our being.

Light does not exist without dark and life is an interplay between supposed opposites; to feel wholeness, we need to invite and compassionately meet all aspects of self.

Through the practice of yoga and mindfulness we will bring awareness to our physical, emotional and spiritual bodies. Noticing our habitual thoughts, patterns and stories and working through these helps us to reveal and reconnect with our truest, whole and most authentic self.

Daily dynamic vinyasa and yin yoga classes, workshops, pranayama and meditation will leave you feeling restored, refreshed and revitalized!

Mandalas, meaning circles in Sankrit, have long been used as tools for meditation and are seen as a sacred symbols by many traditions. These beautiful concentric designs can symbolize the circle of life, day and night, light and dark, yin and yang – ever moving round and round and never-ending.

We find mandalas abundantly in nature; throw a pebble in to a still lake and observe the ripple or cut open a kiwi fruit to reveal the intricate design.

Jung described making mandalasas a form of visual journaling and this will be our intention for this creative workshop. Tuning into and trusting our inner wisdom, we will tap into our innate creativity as we intuitively paint our own beautiful mandala.

By absorbing yourself in this practice you will move in to a meditative state noticing a sense of calmness, clarity and focus.

As a first time guest retreat leader, my experience has been wonderful. From the in chat contact with Ani, bookings with Jati & the team this week at Kumara- all have been very professional enabling me to focus on the yoga + workshop.

Fiona, Australia

Craig, South Africa

The perfect balance of inward reflection and much needed non-judgmental and loving socialization. It was a healing experience.

Ellen, Canada

My “Moving into Balance – Yin & Yang has helped me gain insight into the importance of living or balanced healthy lifestyle for the mind, body and soul. Each working in “harmony” together to enrich my life and to make me a happier person for myself and for others. From the moment I walked through the gates at Oneworld Retreats, I know I had entered heaven. A sanctuary of love, kindness and wellbeing. I feel like a new person both physically and mentally. I also found the experience to be very spiritual. I am now going to practice my yoga, and I am also going to look after myself from now on. This retreat has helped me see that I am special, and I owe it to myself and to my family to make sure my “Yin & Yang” is well-balanced.

Julie, Australia

Strengthening and empowering the body, mind and soul, while tasting the Balinese cuisine and culture in the most stunning and scenic surrounding, a deeply moving and rebalancing experience. I want to come here every year.

RETREAT CENTER

Oneworld’s holistic retreat lies in the hills of Ubud, Bali – about 1.5 km away from the hustle and bustle of the village center. The eco-friendly retreat is peaceful and serene, bordered by a small creek to the west and surrounded by jungle and rice fields. And it is probably the only retreat centre in the world with a Palace in its backyard!

We offer 14 comfortable and spacious rooms, two swimming pools, dining room, a yoga shala open to nature as well as a spa where you can enjoy high quality treatments. You will find lush gardens and pavilions to relax and indulge in the beautiful views. Should you wish to explore Ubud during free time, we offer shuttle bus service.

Each room is air-conditioned, has its own terrace/balcony and bathroom. Comfortable yet unpretentious. For our guests’ ultimate serenity, we welcome guests of a minimum age of 14 years. See all the facilities.

YOGA

Yoga Nidra or Yoga Sleep is a somewhat similar to guided meditation and is a practice that allows deep and profound conscious relaxation. We often equate relaxing with listening to music, watching TV or walking in nature, which whilst enjoyable does not balance our energies in quite the same way as practising Yoga Nidra.

By using the body, breath and mind as a focus of awareness, we begin to shift our brain wave frequencies to an extended Alpha state. This is not sleeping (Delta waves) or dreaming (Theta), but the space of awareness in between wakefulness and dreaming/sleeping. These are the brain waves of true relaxation that not only refreshes and replenishes us, but creates space for creativity to arise.

After practising Yoga Nidra, we feel a deep sense of calm and peace and are more readily prepared for our tasks ahead.

Vinyasa Yoga

The word Vinyasa is derived from the Sanskrit term ‘Nyasa’ and the prefix ‘vi’, meaning arranging something in a special way. In yoga, this is done by coordinating the movement and the breath, moving from one pose to the next like in a flow. Generally speaking, we expand on our inhalation and contract on each exhalation.

Ease pose in a Vinyasa sequence is preparing us for the next and step by step we work towards a ‘peak’. The peak could be a complex pose, building strength or increasing breath capacity.

As we flow in Vinyasa, we bring awareness to the link between the poses as well as begin to awaken prana (lifeforce) and the divine energy within. Vinyasa yoga builds heat, strengthens the body and calms the mind through the meditative movement.

SPA

Part of your journey is enjoying the luxury of our skilled therapists’ massage treatments. Inclusive is our wonderful Deep Tissue Massage which is designed to loosen muscles, increase blood flow and relieve stress. Your therapist will skilfully use her elbows and fingers to penetrate all layers of tissue. This therapy breaks down rigid muscle tissue and helps to relieve pain and restore movement. Your therapist uses slow, strong strokes that stimulate and revive deep muscle tissue.

Other treatments are available onsite, you may wish to view our spa menu.

MEALS

Our chefs are experienced and eager to offer you the freshest, healthiest and most tasteful meals, infused with love. Your special wishes and dietary requirements are taken care of whenever possible. Most of your meals are included and most of them are eaten together with the group in the beautiful jungle dining room but sometimes are also served in the privacy of your own balcony or at an outside location. Your personalized itinerary will inform you in detail.
